Inexpensive web design talk

September 8th, 2007

Gave a talk at the Pittsburgh Regional Gathering over labor day about cheap (and primarily free, as in beer) options for web presence, focusing on both service-based (their domain, your content) and self-hosted applications.   That talk is attached.  Inexpensive Web Design Talk

This post is being written from the Paneras in Gaithersburg where I’m surrounded by Megan’s knitting group - all ladies :]

Just showing how easy posting is. This is being posted using my Palm TX

Testing pictures

August 7th, 2007

Supposedly this will allow pictures to be linked in. To test it, I’m going to put up a favorite pot.

Robs Green Bowl

Not too bad to work around.

How about a link to an external?

Latest updates

August 7th, 2007

Been busy lately. Way too busy.

Pottery events:

  • Highland River Melees, June - had a booth, had a lot of fun. Highland Foorde did their usual fantastic job on the feast.
  • Mensa AG, July - Thanks to Lee for taking a container down. Thanks to everyone who took pots home, and lightened the container for the trip back!

Fiber events:

  • Megan made it to the sock knitting machine convention in Frederick. Over 100 fans of antique sock knitting machines, including 3 folks from New Zealand.

Things on our plates for the next while:

  • Visitors - the entire month is filled up with folks coming & going. Whee!
  • Firing the wood kiln at Monocacy Pottery in September. This is a hands-on firing, using John Theis’s “Manabagama” small kiln - 12 sq ft. Should be fun.
  • Pittsburgh RG over Labor Day weekend. Megan will be doing a talk on Meditation, I’ll be doing a talk on cheap web site management and creation. Guess I’d better learn how to use this blog thing <evil grin>.
  • First weekend in October, off to the Mid Atlantic Regional Clay Biennial Conference in Front Royal.
  • I’m sure there’s more, but it escapes me right now.

I promise to blog more. (Hey, I can hardly blog *less*)

Welcome to the new revised Benchite.net

June 24th, 2007

If you are a benchistentialist, welcome. If you’re not, and know about benchistentialism, you’re welcome. If you’ve never heard of benchistentialism, you’re welcome. If you’re a prior benchistentialist and gave it up for lent, welcome back. You are assigned to the bench at the side of the fireplace.

So what’s all this got to do with anything? Not a darned thing. Grab your Tilley hat your appropriate wrap around sunglasses, and pick a bench.
